Willamette
Valley Herding Club (WVHC) provides a friendly environment for herding
enthusiasts to promote their sport. Members gather on the third (3rd)
Tuesday of odd numbered months to discuss business and plan events. Everyone is
encouraged to participate!
For
those new to the sport, Willamette Valley Herding Club sponsors herding instinct
tests to open the door. Furthermore, club fun days offer an opportunity to
learn. The more experienced members share their training tips and help novice
handlers learn the ropes!
For all
levels of experience, Willamette Valley Herding Club sponsors herding clinics
with top-notch trainers. Club members are offered entry in these clinics
before the general public. As a bonus, entry fees for clinics are discounted for
club members!
Finally,
for those wishing to compete, Willamette Valley Herding Club sponsors many
trials each year. Traditionally, the club offers AKC (American Kennel Club)
trials in June and September. For more variety, AHBA (American Herding Breeds
Association) field and ranch dog trials are held in the spring and fall. Other
venues, such as ASCA (Australian Shepherd Club of America) and ISDS
(International Sheep Dog Society), have also been considered!
